Rachael’s Journey

“Aloha! My name is Rachael, & I’ve always been interested in massage & the healing arts. As a receiver I’ve experienced a number of massage styles, from 5 star spa massage to yoga massage, from remedial massage to chakra massage. And I’ve loved them all! It wasn’t until a major life change a few years ago that I was able to focus on massage as being that “one thing” that I wanted to do with my life” – Rachael.

“My background is in healthcare, I hold a Bachelor of Nursing, specialising in Perioperative Nursing, but tragically, in 2009 life took an unexpected turn. I was widowed and became a single parent to my eight year old son. I needed to refocus and renew and began to shift towards finding a balance in my work/home/personal life and was drawn to massage and holistic bodywork as being the key.

I started my bodywork journey embracing Hawaiian Kahuna Massage and the 7 Hawaiian Principles.

I am a Level 3 certified KaHuna Massage Therapist, having trained with Mette’s Institute in Queensland, where I will continue my studies in the future & a Remedial Massage Therapist, having completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage (DipRM) with the Australian College of Massage (ACM). I found that I needed to know more about caring for women through pregnancy so I sought out and completed both the Certificate of Pregnancy Massage, and NurtureLife Pregnancy Massage Practitioner (also, Labour Preperation and Partner Training update and Post Natal Massage) course with Pregnancy Massage Australia.

This led to my belief in the Mind-Body-Baby connection.

I’ve studied with Suzanne Yates from Well Mother (UK) in shiatsu techniques and advanced pregnancy massage, as well as intensive study in Fertility Massage with Clare Blake and Fertility Massage Therapy™ (UK), both endorsed by AAMT. I have also completed Infant Massage Information Service’s – Certified Infant Massage Instructor course in 2014.

I am currently finalising studies in Energy Balnce Bodywork, including Kinesiology based Chakra Balancing and Emotional Meridian Harmony Kinesiology as well as Reiki I & II, as

I believe that healing massage is as much intuitive as it is intentional.

In 2016 I have commenced training as both a Childbirth Educator and Birth Attendant (Doula)  and Post Partum Doula to fully enhance and complement my Maternity Bodywork. Along my journey, I have found a passion for not only supporting women from a soft tissue perspective, but through their entire perinatal journey from pre-conception through to early parenting.

I’m a BIRTH NERD!

An exciting development this year has been my journey to becoming a qualified Placenta Encapsulator. The placenta is an amazing life sustaining organ and I’m learning so much about it and can’t wait to share my knowledge with my clients. I’m looking forward to 2017 where I’ll be learning about traditional belly binding, Blessing-way ceremonies, baby wearing and breastfeeding counselling.

It may sound like I offer a lot of different services, but they’re all just different aspects of what I do: caring for and supporting women through their life’s journey.

Outside of Fiore Massage, I love to craft, but making my own clothes is my first love and my meditation. I’m planning to decrease the amount of store-brought clothing and sew & knit my own wardrobe! I’ve got an awesome 16 year old son and a loving partner whose  own mediation is music and guitars. I love the water, and swimming is my fitness regime and am looking forward to getting back into my yoga practice. I’m a lifelong learner and there’s always “this course I want to do”! But mostly, I just love to hang out with my family, my friends and my TRIBE. I can’t wait to share in your journey, and it’s awesome to meet you!” – Rachael.
