Childbirth Education – Coming Soon
I plan to begin presenting small group and private Childbirth education classes at our Fiore Mama clinic space from mid 2017.
I am studying Lamaze Childbirth Education in Melbourne with Birthwell Birthright, from late February 2017.

Lamaze is a nonprofit organization that promotes a natural, healthy and safe approach to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. Knowing that pregnancy and childbirth can be demanding on a woman’s body and mind, Lamaze serves as a resource for information about what to expect and what choices are available during the childbearing years.
Lamaze education and practices are based on the best, most current medical evidence available. They can help reduce the use of unnecessary interventions and improve overall outcomes for mothers and babies. Working closely with their families, health care providers and Lamaze educators, millions of pregnant women have achieved their desired childbirth outcomes using Lamaze practices.
The mission of Lamaze International is to promote, support and protect natural, safe and healthy birth through education and advocacy through the dedicated efforts of professional childbirth educators, providers and parents.
Forming the foundation of the organization are the Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices. These evidence-based practices, adapted from the World Health Organization, promote, protect and support natural, safe and healthy birth.
I have also been studying Childbirth Education via distance education with Childbirth International.
Becoming a Childbirth Educator (Antenatal Teacher) is a life changing experience. It’s rewarding to see how, in just a few classes, you can change the process of birth, improve outcomes and help women feel empowered to become the mothers they want to be. CBI childbirth educators do more than just pass on information to expectant parents. At CBI, our educators understand how to teach skills needed for making informed choices, putting a plan in place for tackling unexpected situations, gaining decision-making capabilities and the confidence to communicate these to caregivers. During your CBI childbirth educator training you’ll learn how to teach these skills during classes, while making them fun and interactive.
Just teaching clients about the risks of medical intervention is not the way they’ll get the birth they’d hoped for. As a student, you’ll develop strong communication capability, learning the critical skills of reflective practice and active listening, and learn why these are so important. You’ll also gain a full understanding in how to help clients have realistic expectations and get the birth they want – using a unique blend of skills & models developed by Childbirth International. You’ll explore a multitude of different teaching techniques, focusing on active teaching skills that eliminate the need for long and boring lecture sessions.
